Sun Spot 04/07/2001

This is an enlarged photo of the sunspot we reviewed during the Delta II/Odyssey launch. The upper dark spots are not actual sun spots, but markings on the sun screen. The actual sun spots are to the lower portion of the sun image. Due to the sun not being centered in the telescopes' field of view, the sun appears to be "out-of-round". (The Earth had moved us out of direct view, due to it's rotation) Below is a NASA photo taken of this same sunspot, on the same day, about 6 hours earlier.
